Presenting our first game: AESOS

Who are we?

We are a small studio founded by two computer-engineering classmates specialized in video games. The idea of creating our own studio matured over the years following graduation, during which we gained experience in the game industry, programming, and 3D/game engines.

Armed with passion, newly acquired skills, and others sharpened through practice, we officially brought the studio to life at the end of summer 2024, when we began working on it full time.

Development of our first project, AESOS, began a little over a year ago — and it’s more than time we showed it to you!

AESOS (short for “Astronefs, Équipements et Services en Orbite Spatiale” — “Spaceships, Equipment and Services in Orbital Space”) is a simulation game about running a modest orbital shipyard. (Spaceyard? Orbital yard? All of the above.)

Potential clients will come to you with their specific needs for a spacecraft produced by your company: particular dimensions, a required speed, certain onboard equipment, and more.

From there, you’ll have to design a ship that matches their expectations, and personally pilot it through testing environments tailored to their requests: obstacle courses, asteroid fields, weapon-testing ranges, racing circuits, and many others.

Finally comes assembly and production. Along conveyor belts, you’ll place workstations where different parts of the ship are assembled step by step by a team of skilled workers. You’ll just need to show them the exact procedure once — they’ll take it from there. Optimizing your operations will be the key to success!

Why?

AESOS is the result of a collaboration between two gamers, one avid simulation/management consumer (KSP, Factorio…) and the other who loves action RPGs and had an amazing time with TOTK.

We wanted to create an experience that blends our worlds: advanced physics simulation for piloting, management mechanics, and a high degree of freedom in ship design — without sacrificing accessibility.

Current state

We’ve designed the game around three distinct yet complementary parts: ship design, ship piloting through test levels, and the factory phase with its workstation assembly lines.

For the design and piloting aspects, we are in a finishing-and-content-expansion phase: adding new ship parts, new levels, and more.
The factory phase, on the other hand, is something we prototyped early on — nearly a year ago — but we focused on the rest of development until now. It’s next on our to-do list.

In parallel, we have a lot of content to add:

  • contracts
  • story mode
  • easier sharing of ships with other players
  • improved environments, 3D models, lighting…
  • many more things (that will be split into updates!)

We’re doubling down to refine the current content in order to release a public demo — or at least open expanded playtests — in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we’ll do our best to show you more of the game as regularly as possible.

Acknowledgements

AESOS wouldn’t be where it is today without the contribution of several people whom we’d like to warmly thank:

  • The C-19 incubator, for hosting us
  • Paul, who composed some fantastic tracks for the soundtrack (find his works on Youtube and Instagram)
  • Kat from The Camelia Studio, for the 2D art (and for invaluable advice and discussions)
  • Marco, Thomas and Axel, our brave developer interns

Many thanks as well to our testers, who constantly push the experience forward.

And finally, heartfelt thanks to all our friends and families who have supported us — and continue to support us — throughout this adventure. ❤️
